As reported on wadiocese.com, the participation of a special guest for the feastday celebration, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, is expected.
This will be Archbishop Justinians first visit to our Cathedral.

Saint John's Feastday
Schedule for the Feast of Saint John, Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco
In 2010 we celebrate sixteen years from the day of the Glorification of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco. This year the feastday will be marked on Saturday, 3 July (closest Saturday to 2 July). The schedule of the upcoming anniversary celebrations of the Glorification of Saint John at the Holy Virgin “Joy of All Who Sorrow” Cathedral in San Francisco, is as follows:
Thursday, 1 July
Akathist in front of the holy relics of St. John at 7:30pm.
Friday, 2 July Confessions will be heard beginning at 5:00 pm. All-Night Vigil at 6:00 pm.
Saturday, 3 July
Greeting of His Eminence, KYRILL, Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America at 9:00 am followed by the Divine Liturgy. After the Liturgy a Service of Intercession (Molieben) to St. John and procession. Festal luncheon for clergy and faithful in the cathedral fellowship hall.
First Lady Svetlana Medvedeva Visits Joy of All Who Sorrow Cathedral
On June 23, 2010, Russia’s First Lady, Svetlana Medvedeva, was greeted with flowers at the entrance to San Francisco’s Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” by girls from SS Cyrill and Methodius High School’s “Kazachok” ensemble, who were dressed in traditional Russian sarafans. His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia welcomed Mrs Medvedeva along with a host of clergymen in full vestments.
The First Lady then venerated the Cathedral’s icon of the Mother of God, at which she lit a candle. She also lit candles at the icons of the heavenly protectors of her husband, President Dmitry Medvedev, and her son Ilya. Vladyka Kyrill invited her to attend a moleben at the crypt of St John (Maximovich) the Miracle-worker. Mrs Medvedeva was visibly praying, bowing her head during the reading of the Holy Gospel, and then piously venerated the relics of St John.
At the end of the moleben, Protodeacon Nicholas Triantafillidis intoned Many Years to the President of Russia, his wife and all Russian people in the Fatherland and abroad. Vladyka Kyrill then gave the First Lady an icon of St John painted by the director of the Cathedral Choir, Vladimir Krassowsky.
Mrs Medvedeva then gave Archbishop Kyrill an icon of SS Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles, Illuminators of the Slavs.
